Triple loader washers for the win! The environment is a bit outdated & grimy. For a place to clean clothes this place is far from clean. Half the dryers don't dry...the better ones are on the back wall near the bathroom cus they are more close to the heat source. Folks that come here are always so nice, friendly & helpful.
Poor Dry Cleaning Result
When I arrived, my information pulled up on the computer and my jacket was ready to go. After paying $10.00 for their services, I decide to unwrap the jacket and wear it out. Upon removing the plastic, I noticed that there were still visible signs of wear (lots of lint) around the neckline and where the cleaners folded pressed the fabric. I also noticed that the price tag (which I forgot to remove after purchasing the item) was still attached at the jacket’s armpit without any signs of wear or tear from being dry-cleaned. Because the price tag was still left on the jacket I find it hard to believe the garment was inspected before being cleaned. I am unsure of whether any pre-treatment was conducted on the jacket to “clean” any visible signs of wear, but I can say that any effort to remove signs of wear after the cleaning process does not seem to be attempted beyond using a lint roller (which is not the best tool to use on anything wool). The attendant who took my money told me that they rolled it the best they could; however, they did not seem to use a brush or use a tool to de-pill the fabric in order remove any traces of dirt, dandruff, and food remaining on the item.
Needs an upgrade for sure but gets the job done.
To remedy this poor attempt to “clean” a jacket, I plan to take a wet cloth and spot clean and remove any pills with a pair of scissors or a razor. When I decide to get this item cleaned again, I will make the extra few minute drive to get a better result. Although the dry-cleaning portion of Cook’s Clean Center may be unsatisfactory, their other services appear to provide intermediate satisfaction.
When I brought my jacket in I was immediately attended to, and all my questions about the time it will take to finish and the price are answered confidently. I did ask them if they will call me if my jacket is finished early, and the attendant answered in the affirmative. At this point, I am optimistic. I dropped off my jacket around 10:30AM Monday, and my jacket was expected to be finished by 2:00PM Thursday. I call Cook's Thursday morning to see if my jacked was possibly ready to pick-up, and, indeed, it was, so I told them I would be by to pick it up shortly. This morning especially cold and being able to wear my jacket on this morning would be ideal.
Always do my laundry here
I recently purchased a used--dry clean only--wool winter coat that appeared to have some animal hairs embedded in the fabric along with signs of wear around the neck area. Of course, I want to clean anything used before I begin using it regularly, so I seek out a dry cleaner close by. Other dry cleaners are in Blacksburg or Christiansburg (30 min - 45 min drive), so I decide to choose the local facility (Cook's Clean Center) for my needs.
